Deposit Collection Policy

Purpose

The Paul Pratt Memorial Library makes available educational resources to support the Cohasset schools’ curriculum. Deposit collections or “teacher loans” of books and other library resources from our collection may be borrowed for extended period of times for use within the classroom. Upon request, the library also provides reserve collections of subject materials for student use at the Paul Pratt Memorial Library when the actual materials on any specific subject are limited.

Guidelines

Teacher Cards are available to educators working in public and private schools in Cohasset. Teachers in the Cohasset schools, daycare centers and pre-schools may request teacher loans. Specific loan periods will be established prior to check out of materials. Teachers are personally responsible for all materials in the teacher loan collection. The applicant assumes financial responsibility for all lost or damaged items. Teacher cards must be renewed annually and do not accrue overdue fines.

Processing

All deposit collection materials are catalogued. No materials may be loaned prior to processing and cataloging.

Requests

Requests may be made via phone or email. Teachers who reserve collections must supply the following information: name, school, telephone, fax or email information, subject area or specific titles required, reading level(s). Subject requests should be as specific as possible. The library reserves the right to limit the number of books in a specific subject area. It is recommended that teachers submit a Paul Pratt Memorial Library Assignment Alert Form to expedite the process.
